When do you take your linens to a dry cleaner vs. wash them at home?

We’ve got all the main points to help you make the best decisions when it comes to the care of your linens.

1. What is the thread count? If the thread count of your linens are 600 and above then to ‘prolong the life’ of those linens, it’s best to entrust them to a dry cleaner.

2. Duvets, Shams, Multi-Colored and Complex Patterned bedding should be dry-cleaned. When washed at home, you run the risk of causing discoloration, color bleeding, shrinkage, a change in the way the fabric feels and an inability to properly remove stains.

3. Bleaching bed linens can cause pre-mature yellowing of the fabric and weaken fibers.

4. Hang drying sheets is optimal, but if you must use a dryer, dry on a low setting.

5.Fabric softeners break down the fibers of fabrics.

6. We all love perfectly pressed linens, but if you have king or queen size sheets, it can be very difficult to press these items without causing immediate wrinkles. We at Jeeves have specialty hand pressing techniques that perfectly press even your largest sheets.
