Winter is here!…And our knees are knocking, our teeth chattering and our lips chapping. As we’re all bundling up to keep these cold weather symptoms at bay, our winter wear needs special care to ensure it lasts all winter long. From cashmere scarves and sweaters, to wool coats and boots…It’s important to remember these three key things:

1. For cashmere sweaters or scarves, always check the tags before assuming that you can wash and dry them at home. For most cashmere pieces, dry cleaning is the preferred mode of cleaning. If you can wash your cashmere at home, hand wash and dry flat. NEVER use the dryer as that can cause shrinkage. Drying on a hanger will cause stretching.

2.Wool is one of the best fabrics to keep you warm in the winter. For multicolor wool coats, or wool coats with another fabric like leather juxtaposed with the wool; trust your dry cleaner as you want to avoid any color bleeding that can occur during home care. Wool items usually cannot be washed, so do not try to clean at home if the label indicates “dry clean only”.

3. The snow brings salt. And salt brings salt stains. Therefore for your shoes, its important to regularly get them serviced by a shoe care professional or Jeeves (we have phenomenal in house shoe services for clients) to ensure those stains don’t become permanent!
