A HUGE change is coming at Saint Laurent….Hedi Slimane is OUT and a new creative director is IN. That new creator though, has yet to be named.
Kering Group, the company that owns Saint Laurent, is responsible for the official announcement of Silmane’s departure after 4 years at the brands helm. Chairman and CEO of Kering, François-Henri Pinault, said “I am very grateful to Hedi Slimane, and the whole Yves Saint Laurent team, for having set the path that the house has successfully embraced, and which will grant longevity to this legendary brand.”
As we all remember, Slimane is the one that dropped “Yves” from the name and redesigned all the stores. He moved the design studio to LA and gave the brand a ‘face lift’, focusing on clothing that felt more punk-rock than couture, and gave the brand a more approachable aesthetic. His changes resulted in some major growth in revenue; so his successor will have a ‘hard act to follow.’

We at Jeeves have enjoyed cleaning and caring for our clients ‘fresh and funky’ Saint Laurent pieces designed by Slimane. He revolutionized the brand and is one of the brightest minds in fashion. We wish him all the best with any future endeavors, and are ‘impatiently’ waiting for the next creative director at Saint Laurent, to be named!
