On Monday my email box had an item from the Borowitz Report that was titled, “Winter Weather Expected to Dominate the Conversations of Boring People”, I digress.

This morning I watched a woman in beautiful black leather boots (Gucci?), wade through water that was at least three inches deep at the corner of 68th and Park Avenue. As the water seeped into her boot (she grimaced), the tires of a taxi stuck in the snow started spinning and covered her off-white wool coat (Burberry?) with a slushy, gray mixture of snow and street detritus.

I offered her my handkerchief to wipe off the slush, she refused, she was too aggravated. I thought of telling her about Jeeves and asking her if she wanted me to have my driver pick-up her coat for cleaning, but she was getting more furious by the second. It wasn’t the right time. I walked away.

While the weather may dominate some conversations this week, the snow will take a toll on your wardrobe. That gray, slushy mixture is snow, salt, grease and dirt. Not really what you want on your clothes.

I’ve seen shearling coats ruined in a heartbeat after being splashed with “salty” slush. The salt literally burns the shearling and the soft leather takes on the characteristics of starched cardboard.

Do clean anything that gets splashed with slush and keep away from the tires of stuck taxi cabs.

Oh, and the leather boots? Jeeves can fix the water rings that will appear after they dry out.

Thanks for listening. Jerry Pozniak, Jeeves New York

Dry Cleaning Tips

Have you felt the wind of the latest trend on the streets ( quite literally) of New York? It would seem that no longer is a woman’s greatest accessory her bag or a one of a kind couture piece, rather a vintage hunk of metal; the bicycle.

Fashion meets function?

Jeeves has heard that this can happen, but so rarely are these functional pieces also statement pieces. Don’t tell that to the women of New York who have been cruising all over town from the Upper East Side all the way down to Williamsburg on Schwinns and Raleighs.

The streets of New York have always been like a runway show, but now more so than ever it is impossible to take your eyes off of these woman dressed to the nines whizzing around town…

Messengers and food delivery guys don’t stand a chance.

Jeeves had been wondering how long it would take for this trend to settle in before he saw the first wardrobe malfunction due to mechanical error.

Your man Jeeves knows that the ladies of New York most certainly always look their best, and in order to do so wear their very best. The only downfall to this trend is the anticipated wear and tear on your wardrobe– one missed pedal and torn trousers present themselves. Or perhaps you are riding carefree after one of these pesky fall rain showers and a truck drives by catching you in the backlash of an idle puddle?

The next stop on your route should be straight to 39 E. 65th Street where your man Jeeves will be ready and waiting to tend to you and your wardrobe.

Best of all there is a nice little fence outside ideal for securing your wheels.

For all of your dry cleaning, tailoring, and everyday needs Jeeves of Belgravia can do it all.

Dry Cleaning Tips

Fashion Week is officially over, and your man Jeeves is wiped out. Earlier this week he was up at the crack of dawn to join one of his favorite clients, Robert Verdi in the introduction of Panasonic’s latest household appliance; The Panasonic 360 Freestyle.

The 360 Freestyle is an innovative new household item… it is a cordless iron that allows for multidirectional design. If you don’t have time to bring your clothes to Jeeves to be properly pressed and ironed he strongly recommends that no household be without this.

When Robert Verdi was approached by Panasonic to assist in the promotion of this product to the fashion minded individuals of New York he could think of no one else besides your man Jeeves to assist him in this task.

As you know Jeeves is the go-to gentleman for all your clothing needs in New York City. If he can’t clean it, repair it, or save it than chances are that no one can.

Jeeves was very excited when he first tried out the Panasonic 360 Freestyle iron, for it was like nothing he had ever used before. Much like Jeeves’ ECO2 Cleanse system this technology is the first of it’s kind, and will change the way clothes are ironed at home permanently.

The unique design features of this product allows for precise control over areas that are typically hard to reach, and all for the low price of $99.95.

As always when your clothes require more than your personal touch, you know that you can always count of the Jeeves touch to help keep you and your wardrobe looking their best.

Dry Cleaning Tips

Jeeves here.

I do hope that all of you had a delightful holiday weekend and were able to appropriately relax before transitioning into a week bursting with activities ranging from religious obligations to the highly anticipated Fashion’s Night Out to kick off New York Fashion Week Spring 2011.

Before you get carried away in all the chaos taking New York City by storm, Jeeves urges you to take a moment or two to finish unpacking from the long weekend ( no judgment here if you have not done so already) and bring your summer wardrobe to Jeeves’ shop for one final cleaning.

Jeeves knows you were extra careful this weekend to not disturb the delicate linen fibers of your favorite white dress, but that doesn’t mean that there aren’t evils lingering just below the surface. There are many stains that are not visible to the naked eye, and require the Jeeves touch.

In addition to clear liquids such as wine or champagne there are other substances that will linger on your clothing long after the last summer sun has set, only to rear their ugly head as an oxidized stain next summer. Perfume and sweat also come in contact with your clothing, and leaving these uncleaned on your summer clothes is an open invitation for moths to devour these pieces once they are put away for cleaning.

Your man Jeeves simply wanted to extend a friendly reminder that just because you can’t see these stains does not mean that they do not exist, and should be taken care of before its too late. To prevent from damages such as stain oxidization and moth holes all you have to do is ring your man Jeeves and he will dispatch a driver to come collect your summer clothing( right from the suitcase if you prefer) to ensure that your whites are brighter than ever next summer!

Stop by and visit your man Jeeves at 39 E. 65th Street for the best in dry cleaning throughout New York City. No one will treat your wardrobe better, and that’s the promise of a gentleman.

Dry Cleaning Tips

Not too far away from your man Jeeves fashionable women have been taking over the Upper East Side ( more so than usual) due to the opening of the latest exhibit at The Metropolitan Museum of Art, ” American Women: Fashioning a National Identity.”

As you know Jeeves is a big proponent of the fine arts, so for an exhibit to showcase what he knows best has him a wee bit excited.

The exhibit is a collaboration between The Brooklyn Museum and The MET, as they are both currently showing these complimentary exhibits simultaneously now through August.

The decades covered in the exhibit range from 1890-1940. According to the museum’s website, “the exhibition will reveal how the American woman initiated style revolutions that mirrored her social, political, and sexual emancipation. “Gibson Girls,” “Bohemians,” and “Screen Sirens,” among others, helped lay the foundation for today’s American woman.”

Jeeves’ favorite part about this exhibit is that the audio guide is done by none other than the epitome of evolving American fashion and a hometown favorite, Sarah Jessica Parker.

This exhibit was kicked off with the annual Costume Institute Gala on Monday, May 3 and all of Jeeves’ favorite celebrities and designers were dressed to impressed. Many of the designers accompanied the celebrity they had outfitted for the evening.

Although Jeeves is partial to British women, he can surely understand and respect all the qualities that make an American woman, and greatly anticipates visiting this exhibit with Mrs. Jeeves.

If the celebrity styles from the Gala, or the exhibit pieces have inspired you and your wardrobe you know that Jeeves’ door is always open, for he is the best in fine garment care all throughout New York City.

Have you been to visit this exhibit? Let your man Jeeves know what you think!

Dry Cleaning Tips

What a gorgeous March day for all of New York to gather and attend the annual St. Patrick’s day parade. Although your man Jeeves has been hard at work all day long, he can hear the crowds through the open shop door.

Jeeves was surprised to learn that the parade tradition did not originate in another cross Atlantic country, but rather right here in New York City. Every hue of green that has whizzed past the store today have been so vibrant in the sun you would think they were almost found in nature.

Your man Jeeves does not care much for the color green as he believes it to not be particularly flattering, however he does sport some other eye catching shades that are kept nice and vibrant by Jeeves’ ECO2 Cleanse system. The chemical free nature of the process does not expose the dyes to damaging components that cause colors to fade. If you have not tried Jeeves’ ECO2 Cleanse system , you should give it a try now just in time for Spring and Summer when colors will be everywhere!

In addition to using ECO2 Cleanse your man Jeeves has a few more suggestions to help you keep your clothes fresh and bright:

Follow Care Labels exactly, if it says ” wash cold” WASH COLD!

Don’t store in bright light this will cause colors to fade

Be careful with cosmetics, perfumes, and deodorants! Some will cause bright colors to become faded or discolored. Try to remember to apply all of these a few minutes before dressing

Dry Cleaning Tips

After the last model had walked, and the house lights went dark in one of the last fashion shows to ever be held at Bryant Park, the real work began for your man Jeeves and his cleaning team.

As mentioned before Jeeves had been entrusted by representatives from Fashion for Relief as well as Net-A-Porter to clean and transport all the garments worn during the show held during New York Fall 2010 Fashion Week. As you can see from the picture above your man Jeeves has his hands very full of couture.

Once off the catwalk and back at Jeeves’ garment care workshop the clothes were analyzed by his team of craftsmen to ensure that they received Jeeves’ full white glove treatment. After careful analysis, it was decided that all donated garments must be cleaned by hand due to the responsibility of cleaning these one of a kind couture gowns.

Your man Jeeves would have hated to see the fine details and incredible construction of these beautiful gowns lose their unique presence due to improper cleaning, so the only solution was to clean every piece by hand. This meant much more work for Jeeves and his team, but no one minded for such a charitable cause.

After a long weekend of cleaning, your man Jeeves returned each and every gown to its original pristine condition and hand delivered them to Net-A-Porter who will be auctioning off the gowns after the London show has been completed. All proceeds from the online auction beginning March 15 will benefit CARE, an organization working towards rebuilding the healthcare system in Haiti.

Your man Jeeves can’t wait to see what fabulous looks go down the runway at the London Fashion for Relief event. Like Jeeves New York, Jeeves of London has been entrusted to clean and handle the couture for the Fashion For Relief show being held tongiht in just a week after the New York show. He can only extend his empathy towards Jeeves London because he knows all the hard work they have ahead of them.

You may recognize the gown above as the gorgeous piece worn by Sarah Ferguson, also entrusted to your man Jeeves is the now famous Burberry ensemble worn by Agyness Deyn complete with those 7 in. platforms that caused her to take quite the tumble 2x! All the pieces by Alexander McQueen that Jeeves had worked with backstage are not available for auction, for all of his pieces are being returned to his estate. Jeeves was so excited when he was sorting through the racks to find the stunning cerulean gown worn by none other than Naomi Campbell herself that required the Jeeves touch.

For all your couture cleaning needs, or perhaps those pieces that require a second or even third look come visit your man Jeeves, for the best couture cleaning in New York.

As soon as the first look hit the runway your man Jeeves already knew he was going to be very busy next fall if these looks are indicative of what is to come. With jackets in deep hues, and made of distinct materials including goat skin had Jeeves on the edge of his seat for what would be next down the runway.

Jeeves was very excited to see that velvet blazers would be returning to the stores next fall, but with a little more flare for the dramatic with their leather trimming. There was no shortage of fitted suits perfect for your man Jeeves and his clients.

If you also enjoyed the Perry Ellis Fall 2010 collection just remember that your man Jeeves offers the best leather cleaning in NYC, and his chemical free ECO2 Cleanse process will keep your suits looking sharp and odorless!

Dry Cleaning Tips

As the weekend approaches, so does the impending doom of yet another winter storm bringing with it lots of frozen precipitation, and the need for the warmest of your outerwear.

Your man Jeeves has had just about enough of these cold New York days, and is certainly ready for spring and the warmer weather. However, on these brisk days he braves the streets wearing his down jacket which he only used to wear on the exceptionally cold days because it was quite an ordeal to clean.

In the past Jeeves had avoided cleaning this jacket at great lengths due to the fact that the first one he purchased when arriving in the US was almost ruined because of his ignorance to care for a garment he was unfamiliar with.

Many down jackets instruct the consumer NOT to dry clean these jackets. Why? Typically, in the dry cleaning process the feathers all clump together so that their warmth is no longer distributed throughout the entire jacket. Worst of all, the chemical odor lingers in the feathers and follows you everywhere.

The same results tend to happen with home cleaning sans the cleaning odor, but with the added potential for a devastating headache as many cleaning professionals instruct that tennis balls or sneakers be placed in the dryer with the jacket to help redistribute the feathers.

This cleaning was a futile effort for your man Jeeves until now. With the introduction of the CO2 machine, and this being Jeeves’ first winter with the ECO2 Cleanse process he figured he would try his luck. By this point he had tried everything else…

Before cleaning Jeeves was very hopeful, for he had helped Mrs. Jeeves during the last snow blast, and had seriously soiled his jacket. In case you were unaware your man Jeeves LOVES color, so his vibrant jacket does not conceal stains well.

The results were remarkable! The jacket was removed from the machine spotless, odorless, and colder than the temperature outside the store. Your man Jeeves felt like he had just received a brand new jacket and it only took half the time of regular dry cleaning.

CO2 dry cleaning is able to clean any down jacket much better than any other process and in much less time.

For all your down jacket cleaning needs come visit your man Jeeves, the only luxury garment care firm with CO2 in all of Manhattan.

Dry Cleaning Tips

The majority of Jeeves’ family still lives on the other side of the Atlantic, so he greatly anticipates their weekly chats. Your man Jeeves is a little behind the times and has not quite figured out skyping yet, so he still relies on the telephone. When he rang his youngest brother, Alfred this week they discussed a similar trend between their two businesses (Alfred handles luxury garments as well).

The conclusion that these two gentlemen came to is the astounding volume of items left behind in the pockets of dry cleaning clients.

A study conducted in the U. K. stated that almost 5,000 memory sticks and portable devices were found in pockets across 100 dry cleaners last year alone. This study was conducted by a security firm , Credant Technologies in an effort to emphasize why information on devices such as these should be encrypted.

Your man Jeeves does not care much for what this study is implying about the general public’s disposition, but does recognize the need for concern and precaution.

If you are someone who deals with highly personal or sensitive information Jeeves recommends that you not download unprotected information or other information to portable storage devices that if lost could lead to a breach in security or worse.

Your man Jeeves has a few suggestions to help you keep track of your personal belongings:

Empty your pockets when undressing

Place items of value in a briefcase or purse

If you must place them in a pocket check to make sure there are no holes

Take a few extra minutes before sending clothes out to check your pockets

Rest assured that anything you forget to remove from your pockets before you send it to Jeeves for cleaning will be returned to you. Jeeves’ staff carefully attends to all pockets before cleaning to ensure that nothing is ruined or lost.
