CO2 Dry Cleaning Comes to Jeeves New York

Soon harsh petrochemicals will be gone from the dry cleaning process used by your man Jeeves, replaced with new technology that uses the same substance that puts the “fizz” in your drink.

The process? Eco2 Cleanse.

The benefits? Replacing petrochemicals with liquid carbon dioxide has many, the most important is that dry cleaning becomes “truly” green.

Other benefits are:

  • Better cleaning, white clothing never yellows or gets gray.
  • No odor, you don’t have to “air out” your clothes before wearing.
  • Gentle process, your clothes “float” in liquid CO2, they don’t tumble for 45 minutes.
  • No heat, your clothes are not subjected to hot temperatures which set stains and break down fibers.

Your man Jeeves has been searching for a better way to dry clean clothes for years. This is the first major technological advancement that has been introduced in garment care since dry cleaning was invented over 100 years ago.

The New York branch of Jeeves will be the first “Jeeves” in the world to clean using the Eco2 Cleanse process and Jeeves will also be the only luxury garment care firm in New York City to clean in CO2.

Success!

My talented handbag cleaning and restoration team worked for many, many hours in order to remove the ink stain from the Dolce & Gabbana handbag that I told you about last post. The result is perfection!

I remember years ago speaking to a “so called” leather and suede expert, and he told me that you can never get ink out of leather. Well no more, my technical staff has taken leather and suede cleaning to a new level and it IS possible to remove ink.

Just look at the results for yourself and thanks for listening.

If you are in need of handbag, purse or leather/suede cleaning, you know who to call, your man Jeeves.

$23,000 Dolce & Gabbana Handbag, Ink Stained!

Who does Dolce & Gabbana call when you discover that a $23,000 alligator handbag on the selling floor has a pen mark?

Jeeves, of course.

Last Friday your man Jeeves took a call from the manager of Dolce and Gabbana on Madison Avenue who had a big problem, no a huge problem. She had a $23,000 alligator bag on the selling floor and someone put a pen mark on it.

Jeeves is on the case. Our lead handbag technician is hard at work as we speak, working her magic to remove the offending ink stain. Soon the ink will be gone, and all will be right again at Dolce and Gabbana.

Dolce and Gabbana’s first call was to New York and London’s finest garment care firm, Jeeves of Belgravia, with worldwide locations. By the way, Jeeves is the ONLY worldwide garment care firm.

Jeeves of Belgravia, New York will be the only luxury garment care firm to remove ALL of the petrochemicals from the cleaning process. No other luxury dry cleaner in New York can make that claim either.

Organic Dry Cleaners in New York Should be Truthful

Jeeves of Belgravia, New York

Jeeves of Belgravia, New York

In an article in the San Francisco Chronicle on September 19th, dry cleaners who claim to be
“green” or “environmentally” friendly may be using a solvent which could harm you or the environment. The city’s Department of the Environment is looking to eliminate the chemicals used by dry cleaners.

The same department is working with the city attorney’s office to draft a “truth in advertising” law to prohibit dry cleaners from claiming to be green if they are not.

This is something greatly needed in New York as many dry cleaning firms are advertising that they are “organic” and the truth is they are not.

Organic dry cleaning is a “wolf in sheep’s clothing” as these dry cleaners are using ExxonMobile’s DF2000 which is chemically organic, just like gasoline is chemically organic.

The only methods sanctioned by the EPA as non-toxic alternatives to traditional dry cleaning are; wet cleaning (which uses water) and CO2 dry cleaning.

Jeeves has always used wet cleaning for those garments which can be safely cleaned using this process. Of the garments which come into Jeeves for cleaning, only 30% can be safely cleaned using this method.

In about one month Jeeves is installing CO2 dry cleaning technology. This will make Jeeves the only luxury garment care firm in New York to not use toxic chemicals to dry clean clothing. In fact Jeeves will have the only operational CO2 dry cleaning machine in the State of New York.

The Jeeves CO2 process, Eco2 Cleanse, uses beverage quality carbon dioxide, the same stuff that adds the fizz to your soda, in place of petrochemicals. The technology is manufactured by Solvair.

The installation of our Solvair equipment will also make us the first Jeeves location in the world to clean in CO2.

The Eco2 Cleanse process is superior to traditional dry cleaning methods as it;

  • Cleans better than traditional dry cleaning.
  • Is truly “green”, no harmful petrochemicals are used.
  • It gentle, clothes are subject to less “wear and tear” during the cleaning process.
  • Does not allow stains to set. Eco2 Cleanse is unique, heat is not used at all so stains will not set.

Jeeves of Belgravia, New York is proud to be the first luxury dry cleaner in New York to be 100% petrochemical free.

Luxe Lab, Robert Verdi & Kristen Wiig

Yesterday I was working with Robert Verdi at his Luxe Lab waiting for Kristen Wiig to arrive. Robert was dressing Kristen for the Emmys and I was responsible for making the dress fit perfectly.

Being Fashion Week, Luxe Lab was full and as I hanging for a bit waiting for Kristen. Upstairs J. Alexander (Miss J) was looking through his gift bag and telling me about his Paris apartment.

I went back downstairs to the Lab and chatted with Lauren Ezersky and had a bite to eat. Kathy Griffin arrived and Robert Verdi went right to work “freshening” up her look for the afternoon.

Kristen Wiig arrived and it was time to go to work. This was a second fitting and I wanted the dress to be perfect. Kristen is nominated for an Emmy and must look great for the red carpet.

The dress was just about perfect, but the heel height changed slightly. The dress needed to be slightly longer, thankfully I had the hem basted for the second fitting, the fabric hadn’t been cut yet.

I whisked the dress back to the shop to my tailoring team who needed to start the delicate task of shortening a fragile silk chiffon. The dress has to be ready on Thursday so it can be on a flight on time for the awards on Sunday.

Pics to follow after the awards, can’t tell right now.

The tailoring team at Jeeves travels anywhere to make anyone look great in just about anything. Call your man Jeeves today if you need something altered to perfection.

Eco2Cleanse

Eco2Cleanse

As you may know, Jeeves of Belgravia is the only worldwide garment care firm. The New York location of Jeeves will be the first location in the world to remove all harmful petrochemicals from the dry cleaning process.

This change will also make Jeeves the only luxury dry cleaning firm in New York to remove all harmful petrochemicals from the dry cleaning process.

The new dry cleaning process, the first true technological innovation in the dry cleaning industry in over 50 years replaces solvents with food grade liquid carbon dioxide.

Jeeves is making an investment in the newest version of  CO2 dry cleaning technology marketed by Solvair. Jeeves’ process using CO2 will be trademarked as Eco2Cleanse with Solvair.

The benefits of Eco2Cleanse are:

  • No Petrochemicals.
  • Does not add to greenhouse gases or smog formation.
  • Superior stain removal.
  • Clean, bright odor free clothes. Whites stay white.
  • Prevents stains from setting because the process is cold.
  • Clothes last longer.
  • Less energy use.

As the managing director for Jeeves New York I have spent the last 6 months testing this process to see how it compares to traditional dry cleaning. My findings indicate that the CO2 process is superior to traditional dry cleaning and exceeds the Jeeves standards.

Jeeves will be using the Eco2Cleanse with Solvair process in mid October 2009.

Gentlemen and Dinner Jackets

Hugh Jackman at the Oscars.

Your man Jeeves has always had an opinion on what well dressed men should wear to formal events. Jeeves has always made sure the woman is the star of the event, and the gentleman accompanying her should be well dressed but not the focus.

A sharp suit, including a shirt which fits well if first and foremost. A gentleman should own his own tuxedo, as a rented tux always looks like a rental.

Jeeves has run across an interesting article in WA Today about dinner jackets that you may enjoy.

If you have a tuxedo in your closet that just is not right, the tailoring team at Jeeves can make it perfect for you. Or if you need a custom tuxedo shirt, Jeeves can measure you at our location or come to you.

Jeeves has partnered with L. Gamerbert custom shirts to provide our clients with a simple way to have custom shirts measured and made by whom Jeeves feels is the best in the business.

If you would like to have your man Jeeves measure you for a custom shirt from L. Gamerbert, just give us a ring to make the arrangements.

Jeeves is just steps from Madison Avenue and the only dry cleaning firm on the Upper East Side that has been selected as one of America’s Best Cleaners.
