Jeeves has had the opportunity to take care of this amazing Tom Ford gold snakeskin dress for The Albright Fashion Library (http://albrightnyc NULL.com/index NULL.cfm) for the last ten years. Albright sent it in to Jeeves this week for minor cleaning and repairs.

The issue with garments made with snakeskin is that this type of leather cannot be cleaned by normal cleaning methods; snakeskin can only be cleaned by hand.

The reason for this is that snakeskin is extraordinarily dry skin, and any exposure to dry cleaning solutions causes the skins to fall apart.

Jeeves advice when looking at a garment made from, or trimmed in snakeskin; wear cautiously as stains or soil may not be able to be removed in the hand cleaning process.
