Often when we get stains in our clothing, we like to take matters into our own hands. Believing that google is our ally, we ferociously search the internet for “solutions” to what we consider to be “everyday stains.” But more often than not, trying to use home remedies for stains, leads to a bigger problem than you may have initially started with!

Here’s a perfect example…

A client of ours brought in a piece that she got a small makeup stain on. Thinking that a little dab of water and light rub would solve the problem, she began to do what she thought was the best solution for the garment. But as soon as she began, things got worse and worse. Without knowledge of the fabric and how color is affected by different solvents, she had no idea that  adding water to the dress would actually cause the black horizontal lines to begin bleeding into the white horizontal lines. Now realizing that she had to get rid of the black stains, she began adding more water to the dress, further exacerbating the problem.

The small makeup stain, was now  a big brown color bleeding mess!

Finally realizing that Google had given her false confidence…Her only option was to bring the piece in to Jeeves NY.

The Jeeves team was able to put their 25 years of experience to good use, and not only get rid of the stains, but also restore a lustrous white color back to the white horizontal lines, which were looking dingy from a few rounds of bad drycleaning. So not only was the stain gone, but the black was no longer bleeding and the contrast between the two alternating colors had been sharpened! The client was in disbelief and the garment was saved! Where else can you get that skill and customer care?
